PERCEIVED IMPLICATIONS OF TRADITIONAL HEALTH SERVICES ON WELLBEING OF PEOPLE IN ILORIN SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KWARA STATE

Traditional health care services are age long health care render by traditional healers, traditional birth attendant, debiars and so on. The health care services have been fraught with some inadequacies that often resulted to different debilitative conditions. This study examined health workers perceived implications of traditional health services on wellbeing of people in Ilorin South Local Government Area, Kwara State. A descriptive research design of survey type was adopted for the study. The study investigated whether use of traditional health services have implication on physical, mental, social and reproductive wellbeing of the people in Ilorin metropolis Kwara State Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive research design of survey type. The population of the study comprises of all the people within Ilorin South Local Government Area, Kwara State. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 200 respondents used for the study. The instrument used for this study was researchers structured questionnaire. The instrument was subjected to thoroughly scrutiny by experts in the field of health promotion and community health practice in University of Ilorin. The reliability of the instrument was established through test re-test method using Pearson Product Moment Correlation co-efficient. A correlation co-efficient of 0.79 was
obtained. The data collected for test of hypotheses formulated for the study were analyzed using inferential statistics of chi-square (x2) at 0.05 alpha level of significance.
